The numbers tell part of the story. Here's what to think about beyond the math:

Aircraft availability. Clubs with few aircraft can have long wait times on weekends. Flight schools often have more aircraft but may also have more competition for them.
Community & mentorship. Flying clubs often provide an informal mentorship network of experienced pilots. This is hard to put a dollar value on but is genuinely valuable for student pilots.
Aircraft quality & type. Many clubs fly older aircraft with more wear. Some schools operate newer glass-cockpit trainers at higher rates. Match the aircraft to your training goals.
Geographic availability. Clubs are more common in some regions than others. In some areas, a school is your only practical option.
