Currency requirements at a glance (FAR 61.57)
61.57(a)
VFR passenger carrying: 3 takeoffs & landings in the preceding 90 days in the same category, class, and type of aircraft. At night (1 hour after sunset to 1 hour before sunrise), those T&Ls must be at night.
61.57(c)
IFR currency (instrument PIC): Within the preceding 6 calendar months — 6 instrument approaches, holding procedures, and intercepting/tracking courses in actual IMC or simulated conditions.
61.57(d)
IFR grace period: If IFR currency lapsed within the prior 6 months (months 7–12), you may fly IFR with a safety pilot but not as sole manipulator in IMC until an IPC is completed.
61.56
Flight review (BFR): At least 1 hour of ground and 1 hour of flight training within the preceding 24 calendar months. No flight review = no PIC privileges (except in certain training situations).

Medical certificate: 3rd Class under 40 = 60 months. 3rd Class 40+ = 24 months. 2nd Class = 12 months for commercial ops. 1st Class under 40 = 12 months for ATP. 1st Class 40+ = 6 months for ATP.
